LISTEN TO PART TWO:

Without sales, you don’t have a business! If you aren’t getting more sales, then you probably aren’t growing! Don’t know how to go after those sale? In this two-part series, Danielle goes over some ideas of how to make more Sales in Your Business and get more customers and clients without having to post on Social Media.

It is CRUCIAL to have both short and long term strategies to secure sales in your business. Short-term strategies help you to get cash flow so that you can scale your business sustainably for the long term. Part 1 is all about Short term strategies, and in Part 2, we go over Long-term strategies! Bring a pen and paper and take notes!

Part One - Short Term Strategies:

If you are in need of some quick cash flow, these are some short-term strategies that you can implement to generate income within a few days, weeks or months.

  1. Follow up with Past Clients, Customers, and Retailers

This strategy is not utilized enough in business. More likely than not, past clients may want to place another order or work with you again, so keep in touch! Keep in touch. You don’t have to be pushy or “salesy”, but a simple authentic follow-up offering continued support is not only great customer service, but a good way to keep the know-like-trust factor alive!

  2. Reach out to Potential Leads that never purchased and follow up

Instead of reaching out to past customers, reach out to those who were on the fence about your product or service in the past! Keep track of your leads in some kind of software (like Asana) and check in with them.

  3. Ask your Current or Past Clients for testimonials (and feature them) and ask for referral

If you have any clients you love working with, be confident and ask for a review or testimonial and use those testimonials on your marketing platforms! You clients also likely have like-minded business in their community that they would be willing to refer to you! You can ask them “Do you know anyone that also might be a good fit for my business?”

  4. Create a Special Discount, Incentive or Bundle of your products  for New or Past Clients

Make sure to follow up directly OR connect via an email list if you have one. BIG TIP: Create Urgency through a Limited Time offer or a Flash Sale.

  5. Offer a Free “Sample” of your product or service to Potential Clients/Customers

This could convert both sales and referrals! This could also help you get practice pitching your services.

If you are a product-based business, you could send samples to potential retailers or If you are a service, give potential clients a taste of your work. For ex - Virtual Assistants and other service providers could offer sample work or even a discovery call where you can give clients a glimpse of how you can help them. Or with coaching, you could offer 15 min lightning strategy calls, which may lead to longer-term coaching and other opportunities.

Part Two - Long Term Strategies:

These strategies are great to see long-term success in your business. You always want to have these strategies in your business and something to be working on so that you can build sustainability and consistency with your sales.

  1. Always be building new relationships and fostering current Relationships.

Building and fostering relationships with other business owners is one of the MOST integral and powerful things you can do to grow your business. Danielle shares how the business relationshops she nurtured in the beginning still bring value to her business today. It also helps you feel less alone and supported as you continue to grow your business.

Make sure you build relationships with businesses that share the same values as you! If your audiences are aligned, then there will be opportunities for collaboration & cross-promotion, which will bring in more sales, more connections, and will scale your business faster and more effectively.

  2. Collaborate with other businesses who have complementary products/services & Strategize where you can cross-promote or recommend one another's products and services.

This often happens organically when you network and build authentic relationships and connections with others!

Another FUN idea is to create a bundle offer with other businesses products/services and both promote to your email list or other marketing channels.

  3. Guest Blog, Podcast or Be a Guest on Someone’s Platform (Get in front of other people’s audiences)

This is where a good pitch comes in! You can learn how to craft a really great pitch inside of Action Takers Club (we have guides and templates for binus assistance!), and Danielle shares some exclusive framework from the course:

  • Build a connection - follow them on social media, reach out to learn more!

  • Do your research - know what they provide, their values, etc.

  • Give value - share how you can benefit them and their community

  • Make a clear ask - be sure they know WHAT you are pitching

  • End with a question and follow up - be kind and concise

4. Start your own Blog, Podcast, Youtube or Platform (THAT YOU OWN!)

You personally own & control content and can repurpose it and embed it in your website and drive traffic straight to your website & business. Blogging is NOT dead - SEO drives traffic and increases sales. It not only helps you build know, like and trust with your audience, but it also helps you build a community.

5. Focus on Building Your Email list to deliver valuable content to your Ideal Client

You can save time if these things all flow into one another. For example - if you start a podcast or Youtube channel, you can then repurpose that content for your blog, and then repurpose that to your email list. That way, you are only creating your content ONCE and then repurposing it to different platforms!

BONUS TIP: Make sure you have a STRONG call to action whether it be when you are a guest on someone’s podcast if you are writing your own blog, podcast etc. There should always be something that you are encouraging your listeners, watchers, readers to do!

[00:04:40] Welcome to the business babes collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wiebe. In this podcast. You'll learn tangible business tips and straps on how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow [00:05:00] and scale their businesses. Let's dive in as we discussed the wild, exciting, crazy, challenging, roller coaster ride of entrepreneurship.

[00:05:11] All right. Today, we are going to be talking about how to get more clients, how to make more sales inside of your business. You guys, sales is something to really dive into and it's something that we should not shy away from when it comes to growing our businesses, because guess what?

[00:05:32] If we don't have sales, we don't have a business. So this is such an important topic. And if you are not focused on continually getting more sales and more clients, more customers to your business, then your business probably isn't growing. So that is just some tough love. And maybe you needed to hear it today, but don't worry because today and tomorrow we have a two part series and today we're going to be talking about the first five steps, um, or the first five [00:06:00] ideas.

[00:06:00] And these are going to be short-term strategies to get more sales in your business and gain more clients in your business. Now, I really think that short-term strategy, mixing short-term strategies and long-term strategies in your business is really, really important in order to scale a profitable business that is profitable long-term, right?

[00:06:24] We don't just want the short-term strategies because we want to make sure we're building a successful business that has longevity and that we are building success for our future as well, not just for the short term. However, I think that it is important to understand these short-term strategies, because if you're in need of some quick cashflow, you know, in business, cashflow is so incredibly important.

[00:06:47] And so some of these short-term strategies are what you can implement to generate some income within a few days or weeks or months. And so that's what we're going to be going over to. So let's dive right in. Number [00:07:00] one is to follow up with past clients, customers, or retailers, and ask if they may want to place another order with you again.

[00:07:11] So I think this strategy is not talked about a lot and it's really not utilized enough in business. Follow up is so incredibly important, especially when we're talking about past clients, past customers, if you have a product-based business past retailers. Because often if people have been a client or customer of you in the past, More likely than not, they will want to be a client or customer again, right?

[00:07:40] They will want to reorder products or maybe they need more help, if you're a service-based entrepreneur, they need more help again. And so following up and keeping in touch with your past clients is such a great idea. And, you know, this scares some people because, you know, they think, oh, I don't want to be pushy, I don't want to be salesy, [00:08:00] but just following up with a really kind email, like, Hey Susie, it was so amazing working with you or thank you so much for your order a few months ago, whatever that looks like.

[00:08:10] I just wanted to check in and see how things were going for you, or see how those products were doing, whatever that might be checking in on them and then saying, Hey, if you need anything, if you need any more support or if you would like to reorder, please let me know if there's any way that I can support you. So that is just a really great way to not only keep in touch with your past clients or customers and give really great at customer experience, but also potentially to gain more sales that way as well.

[00:08:41] So number two is reaching out to potential leads that actually never purchased with you and following up with them. So this is very similar to the first strategy, but instead of following up with past clients, you've already worked with or past customers that have already ordered with you, it is following up with people that maybe were kind of on [00:09:00] the fence of placing an order or, um, signing a contract to work with you, and they never actually, they never actually did.

[00:09:08] And so following up with those people, you know, go back into, hopefully you are actually keeping track of some of these things. This is something that we teach inside of action takers club and something that I encourage all of my clients and mastermind members to do as well is keep track of your leads, right? Keep track of them in some kind of software. I really like to use Asana for this. To keep track of people who have inquired about either one-on-one coaching the mastermind, et cetera, and making sure that I'm checking in with them and following up. And that again is just good customer service. So following up with potential leads and clients that never purchased and following up with them.

[00:09:51] Okay. Number three is asking your current or past clients for testimonials. Right. So if you have had past clients or [00:10:00] past customers that, um, have really loved the experience with working with you or purchasing your product, ask for their testimonials, ask for them to, um, share their experience with you and then feature those testimonials.

[00:10:13] So feature them in your email list or have them, you know, below your signature on your email. And then also, um, in addition to that, this is also number three is asking for referrals. So asking your past clients or customers do, who do you know, do you know anyone else that might be a good fit for, again, fill in the blank, whatever you have to sell.

[00:10:36] So if they know of anyone, because often your customers or your clients, uh, usually they also have people in their network that are like-minded that are like them. Right. And so they might know of other people who also might like the same products or services. So that's number three.

[00:10:56] Four is creating a special [00:11:00] discount, a special incentive, or a bundle of your products for new or past clients. And then following up with them directly, or if you have an email list, then sending it out in an email list as well. Now, my big tip on this is creating urgency. So it has to be some sort of a limited time offer. Whether you're going to bundle some of your products or services together. Or if you're going to offer like a short-term discount, a flash sale incentive, maybe a bonus.

[00:11:30] Um, we do that often with our action takers club or even our mastermind is we'll have certain times of the year where we have urgency offers. So we have limited time bonuses or promotions that we have for, for a short period of time. And then again, you can follow up with people directly with those offers, maybe past clients or things that we talked about, you know, before either past clients or potential clients, or you can send it out in an email if you have an email list.

[00:11:58] Okay. Now, number [00:12:00] five, this one is really cool. And I love this one so much. And this works really, really well, um, is offering a free sample of your product or your service to a potential client or potential customer. So if you are a product based business owner, this could be, you know, sending samples to a potential retailer, or if it's a service, you know, this is a really cool way to offer your services to a potential client that you would love to work with and offering it for free so that they can get a taste of what it would be like to work with you.

[00:12:39] So this is like you could send them sample work, maybe that you've curated to their specific business. Um, I've had people do this actually with me before where they've reached out and said, you know, maybe it's a virtual assistant who says, Hey, I will do, um, this free, you know thing for you, and I would just love your feedback or, or a testimonial in exchange.

[00:12:58] And it's like, oh, amazing. [00:13:00] And then, you know, sure enough, we ended up potentially working together in the future because, or I refer them to other people because they've done such a great job. Similar to other service providers. Like if you really know that you really want to work with someone and you're like, if they only knew what it would be like to work with me, then give them a taste of what it would be like so that they can get, you can be top of their mind.

[00:13:24] And, you know, this may result in them hiring you, or it might result in them referring you to a potential client as well. So again, you can do this, whether you're a product based business for like an actual product sample or a service-based business by giving them a sample of your work. So I have actually personally done this in my business for my coaching practice.

[00:13:49] So I before have offered 15 minute lightening strategy calls where I will give someone 15 minutes of my time. And we'll do a strategy call and I will give them [00:14:00] really detailed feedback of what they can implement in their business. And a lot of the times the people that I've done those calls with they've got so much value out of those 15 minutes with me that they wanted to book more sessions.

[00:14:13] And so this is something that I would highly recommend, especially if you are wanting to gain those more clients inside of your business. And also it's an awesome way to just get practice. So get practice talking to people. So if you feel like you're a little bit rusty when it comes to actually either working with clients or maybe you've taken a break, you know, I work with a lot of people who are just coming back to their business after either being on a maternity leave or maybe they're just launching their business after being in the corporate world and they just need to get their feet wet, they just need to have that experience. So this is an awesome way. Give people a sample of your work and you never know what could come of that. Could be working with them or having referrals from people that they [00:15:00] know and, and will trust to recommend you.

[00:15:02] All right. Those are the five things I know we went through that really, really quickly. Those are the five short term strategies of getting more sales, making more sales in your business without posting on social media. And so tune in tomorrow where we're going to be going over the long-term strategies for sales.

[00:15:20] These are just as important, maybe even more important to the success of your business. And so make sure you tune in tomorrow for these strategies that we're going to be going over. And let me know which one of these five strategies are you going to implement. These are things you can implement today, which is really exciting.

[00:15:37] So send me a message on Instagram, @danilivinglife, I would love to hear from you. I would love to hear which one of these you're going to implement first into your business. All right, let's go ahead now and dive into today's episode where we are gonna be sharing some fun ideas, creative ideas on how to make more sales in your business, let's get to it.

[00:04:49] Welcome to the business babes collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wiebe. In this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and strategies on how to grow successfully [00:05:00] and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses. Let's dive in as we discussed the wild, exciting, crazy, challenging, rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship.

[00:05:18] Let's talk about long term strategies on how to make more sales in your business. So these strategies are amazing for if you wanna see long term success in your business, which, of course ,you wanna see long term success in your business.

[00:05:34] This is the beautiful thing about implementing some of the strategies that we're gonna be talking about today, because these are things that you're gonna start to build now, and you're gonna build it into your routine. So when we talk about having a profitable workflow, when we talk about, you know, prioritizing your profitable tasks, this is what we're talking about.

[00:05:56] We're talking about creating a flow for your work that you're [00:06:00] focusing on some of the short-term strategies, like we talked about yesterday, and then also implementing some of these long term strategies as well, so that you can start building this incredible business that has not only short term cash flow coming in, but then also the long term strategy that is gonna build in the system that's gonna continue to allow your business to grow and build in more sales as you grow and scale, right?

[00:06:25] Let's go ahead and dive in step number six, because these are the 10 ways! Yesterday, we went over the first five. If you have not listened to yesterday's episode, definitely go listen to that one. So number six, this is the first long term strategy, is always be building new relationships and fostering current relationships in your business. This is something that I have been doing since I started my very first business, 10 years ago, building and fostering relationships with other business owners and other people is one of the most integral things and [00:07:00] powerful things that you can do to grow your business.

[00:07:03] There are some people that I started building relationships with 10 years ago that I'm still in contact with today and we've collaborated, we've supported one another, we've launched different things. They've been on my panels, I've been on their podcast, whatever that might look like. And it's just been so incredible that the relationships that I've fostered over 10 years ago are still bringing in value today. And it's also just a really cool way to not have to do your business alone.

[00:07:32] So building in those relationships and following up with people and making sure that you're continuing to support them, and in turn, they're gonna wanna support you too. So that is one of the best ways. And, one of the things that I really want you to think about here is how can you build relationships with people who have businesses that are aligned with yours? Right? So when we dive into, you know, this is a topic that we really, really dive into inside of our [00:08:00] action takers club program.

[00:08:01] We talk about collaborations and partnerships and how to utilize those relationships to scale your business, but I want you to think about, okay, how can you start building some of those relationships now so that when you are ready, you can collaborate with those other businesses. Because, ideally if you both have aligned audiences and you can serve one another's communities, there's gonna be cross reference, cross promotion. And that is a way that you can ultimately grow your business, make more sales and scale your business faster than if you were to do it all on your own, right?

[00:08:35] Number seven is very tied to number six. So these all kind of build on one another. So number seven is collaborating with other businesses who have complimentary products or services, and coming up with a strategy on how you can cross promote or recommend one another's products or services.

[00:08:54] So this often happens really organically when you have built those relationships over time [00:09:00] and when you network and build authentic connections with other people. So another fun idea is to potentially create a bundle offer with another person's business and whether this be for products or services, but you can both create a bundle or a promotion where both of your products or both of your services are promoted. And maybe it's at a discount or a bundle offer, or maybe you have bonuses attached to it. And then you can both promote it through your networks or through your email list.

[00:09:31] Okay. Number eight is, I really love this one, and this one's one of my favorites, but guest blogging or podcasting, or being a guest on someone else's platform. So, basically this idea is to get in front of other people's audiences. So this is where a really good pitch comes in. Again, we talk about pitches, we teach it inside of our program action takers club, but I'll give you kind of a really easy thing to follow when it [00:10:00] comes to a really good pitch.

[00:10:01] So what I recommend and what we teach is to one, build a connection with them first. So that means either following them on social media, you know, making sure you do your research and knowing more about that business so that you can speak to those things within your pitch. So it's not just coming off as this like really cold pitch where you know nothing about them. So make sure you're following them, make sure, you know, about them and their business and their community, and then give value.

[00:10:29] So whatever that looks like, that could look like on their Instagram page, commenting, engaging all of those things. But then on top of that, like how can you actually go deeper? How can you give value to them either as a person, as a business owner and how can you actually give value to their community? So share how you can benefit them and their community.

[00:10:55] Don't make it about yourself, make it about them. Make it about their community and [00:11:00] how you can benefit them. And then make a clear ask and then end with a question. So again, there's a whole structure to this, but these are just some quick tips on how to make a good pitch and then end with a question and then make sure you also follow up really kindly and concisely because sometimes you're not gonna get an answer right away. And sometimes you won't get an answer at all, but that's okay. Guest blogging, guest podcasting, or being a guest on someone else's platform is an really, really amazing long term strategy of how you can gain more sales in your business.

[00:11:33] Okay. Number nine is start your own blog, start your own podcast or YouTube or platform that you own. So this one is really important. So the reason that I think starting your own blog, your podcast, or YouTube, or, or other platform is a really great long term strategy is because you own that platform. So I want you to build something that you personally own.

[00:11:57] So ideally, it's gonna be purpose repurposed [00:12:00] to your website and it's gonna drive more traffic to your website. You own that content, right? You're gonna publish it on your own website. So whether you have, let's say you have a podcast and then you repurpose a blog post, or a transcript to your website, you're gonna increase traffic to your own website and ultimately make more sales.

[00:12:23] If you have proper calls to action in place on your website, right? I highly recommend starting something like a podcast or a YouTube channel. Something where it's interactive, where you're giving value. If you're more of a writer and you love blogging, or you love writing, then I would say, just start a blog.

[00:12:42] And that is a way that you can really help your SEO on your website. A lot of people think that blogging is dead or that it, you know, it's, it's not effective for your business. But the thing is it's a long term strategy, and that's why we said think long term, these are long-term strategies because when you [00:13:00] have a blog and you're using keywords and all of those things, we actually recently just invested in someone to help us with our SEO because we know how important it is to drive more traffic to our website and ultimately to our community, to our courses, to our mastermind, to our events, all of those things.

[00:13:17] Okay. So that's number nine. Number 10 is the last and my favorite, my ultimate favorite, is focus on building your email list that is going to be delivering valuable content to your ideal client. So for me, I personally am all about saving time. You guys know that a lot of these episodes, a lot of what I talk about on this podcast. and if you are subscribed to our email list and all of that, you know, that I'm really passionate about working smarter, not harder, and making sure that everything we do is not for a short term benefit.

[00:13:58] So when I say build [00:14:00] an email list, I'm talking about how can you deliver content, valuable content, to your community. But how can you do that in a way that's really simple?, So if you are deciding to start a blog, start a podcast, start a YouTube channel, whatever that looks like to already be bringing valuable content to your community, then I highly suggest all you have to do is just repurpose that content. And that is the content that you're gonna share within your email list.

[00:14:30] So really you're only creating the content once, which will be for your blog, for your podcast, for your YouTube channel. And then you're gonna be repurposing it to your email list. Now we're not talking about social media right now. But if we were talking about it, all we really do is repurpose the content that we're already sharing on our podcast, make it into a short form kind of digestible thing. And then we share it on our Instagram. And to be honest with you, our strategy has completely changed in the [00:15:00] last year.

[00:15:00] We used to be so focused on Instagram, on social media, and now we are so much more interested in actually growing the long term success of our business, which means focusing much more on the podcast, focusing on our blog, focusing on SEO, driving more traffic to our website, ultimately driving traffic to our email list, which is then driving more sales in our business, through our programs and through our mastermind and all of the things that we do, events, et cetera.

[00:15:33] So hopefully that makes sense. And you can kind of see sort of a sales process, right? You have your free content, your valuable content that's then driving people to your website and then to your email list. And then from your email list, that is where people are going to be booking your services or buying your products from there as well.

[00:15:53] And so I want you to think a little bit outside of the box. I know a lot of people, maybe you're a product based business owner and you're like, [00:16:00] how does this relate to me? Well, if you say, for example, you are in the wellness space and you sell personal care products, right? What are some topics that people that love personal care are interested in, right?

[00:16:15] They're interested in wellness, they're interested in self-care, they're interested in, Hey, how can I be more well rested, whatever that might be. That is the type of content that you wanna share on those platforms, whether it be a blog, YouTube, podcast. Because those are the type of people, so think more who is your ideal client?

[00:16:34] What type of content do they love and how are you going to be able to serve them? That content in a really great way, where then you're gonna build that like, know and trust where they're gonna fall in love with you. They're gonna fall in love with your brand. And then you're, they're gonna build that trust with you and ultimately buy your products or services.

[00:16:53] Another thing that I just wanna mention too, some of you might be thinking right now, Danielle, I don't have time to build in these long term [00:17:00] strategies of my business. And to that I say, what could you replace that you are currently doing that maybe is giving you a little bit of short term success, but it's not actually building the long term success of your business?

[00:17:13] And how could you replace that with some of these long term strategies? So I know, I know that can be really tempting to just go for those quick wins. And to be honest, I'm talking about social media here. I know that social media can be a big driver for a lot of you in your business. However, if you are not creating a foundation for your business and you're not actually working on the back end of your business, which is your website, SEO building your email list.

[00:17:42] I'm sure many of you have felt it, you know, over the past year, as algorithm changes as, and as things change, people that are following you, aren't seeing a ton of your content anymore. And so I want you to focus on the things that are gonna have the long term success in mind for your [00:18:00] business. I want you to focus on things that are gonna give you sustainable success long term, rather than only focusing on the quick wins in your business.

[00:18:09] And if you do need some cash flow in your business, again, we talked about the short term strategies in yesterday's episode. So if you have not yet listened to that, feel free to listen to that so that you can get an idea of what it looks like to gain more sales in your business short term, but definitely also build in some of these long term strategies.

[00:18:27] And I also wanted to give a bonus tip for you, which is important, no matter what you are doing, is making sure you have a strong call to action. Whether you are doing a collaboration with another brand or you're writing on your own blog post, or producing your own content or email, whatever that looks like, make sure you always have something that you are encouraging your readers or listeners or Watchers to do, right?
