113 - What's Holding Your Back From Creating a Thriving Profitable Business?

LISTEN TO THE EPISODE HERE:

We are diving into why you are not getting the results that you want in your business. Our hope is that this Episode gives you a shift in perspective and mindset to create incredible results in your life and business!

THE CHALLENGE

In this heartfelt episode, I open up about the struggles we all face when it comes to our own thoughts, fears, and insecurities. It's so easy to find comfort in staying within our safe zones, wrapped up in cozy blankets with a warm cup of tea. Believe me, I cherish comfort just as much as anyone. However, I want to challenge you to consider what amazing things you could achieve if you dared to push past your fears and take action. Let's dive into my personal journey and the lessons I've learned along the way.

Facing Self-Doubt:

Do you ever feel like you're not qualified or ready to pursue your dreams? I've encountered countless individuals who hold themselves back, thinking they need more experience, time, or resources. While planning and strategizing are important, it ultimately comes down to you, the individual, taking action. Unfortunately, many people stumble at this crucial step, paralyzed by self-doubt. They compare themselves to others who seem more successful, leading to a loss of confidence in their own abilities.

Sharing Vulnerabilities:

As a coach and mentor, I've had the privilege of working with remarkable women entrepreneurs. However, I've noticed a common theme: a lack of readiness and imposter syndrome. Whether it's launching a product, starting a podcast, or creating passive income, they often feel they need to be more qualified. While I help them develop strategic roadmaps, it's ultimately up to them to push through their doubts and implement those plans.

My Own Journey:

Looking back at my entrepreneurial journey, I can't help but reflect on how unprepared I felt when I first started. I was so afraid of failure and judgment that I kept my business a secret from my loved ones for months. It's disheartening to admit that lack of confidence held me back from fully embracing and sharing my passion. Perhaps you can relate to this feeling of holding yourself back, whether it's fear of starting a business or fear of reaching the next level.

Embracing Accountability and Growth:

Accountability and support are vital for personal and professional growth. Investing in coaching, programs, and communities has helped me overcome my comfort zone and achieve things I once thought were impossible. Today, many of the things I used to fear are now within my comfort zone, and I've learned that pushing through initial discomfort brings tremendous rewards.

Encouragement to Take Action:

To break free from your self-imposed limitations, I encourage you to take small but significant steps outside your comfort zone. It could be showing up on social media, reaching out to potential collaborators or clients, or making a decision to pursue your creative endeavors. Find someone who can provide accountability and support during this process, as going it alone can lead to self-doubt and comparison traps. Remember, community and mentorship are essential for growth.

Conclusion:

As you set ambitious goals for yourself, remember that growth requires embracing discomfort and taking action. You have the power to overcome self-doubt and achieve what you once thought was impossible. Start by taking those small steps outside your comfort zone, and witness how they gradually become second nature. Let's embark on this journey together, supporting and encouraging one another along the way.

TRANSCRIPT

[00:00:00] Danielle: Welcome to the Business Babes Collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wiebe. in this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and strategies on how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses.

[00:00:22] Let's dive in as we discuss the wild, exciting, crazy challenging, rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship.

[00:00:31] Hello, and welcome to another episode of the podcast, I'm Danielle Wiebe. I'm your host, and I'm so excited that you're here. I'm so excited that you're tuning in today because today we're gonna be talking about why you are not potentially getting the results that you want in your business.

[00:00:49] If you're listening to this, let me tell you what I know about you. I know that you are a go-getter. I know that you're really smart. Whether or not you know it, [00:01:00] I know that you have incredible talents and gifts and abilities that are unique to you, and I know that there's also something holding you back.

[00:01:11] and you probably know that too. You know that you have so much more that you can achieve within your life, within your business, you probably have really, really big goals. Or maybe you're in a space where you've actually stopped dreaming big because dreaming big has become painful for you. And let me explain that, because I have been in that space before where I have stopped myself from dreaming big.

[00:01:39] I have stopped myself from setting massive goals because the idea of not hitting that goal when I had envisioned it and dreamed it and planned it, and then I didn't hit that goal, I would become very negative with myself. I would become very judgmental of [00:02:00] myself. I would think that I was a failure. I would just make up these stories in my head.

[00:02:05] All of these stories, by the way, that I would make up in my head were complete lies. But I let that stop me from dreaming. There have been seasons of my life where I've stopped myself from dreaming big and setting goals because I was scared of not hitting those.

[00:02:25] Has anyone ever felt that way? Is anyone resonating with this right now?

[00:02:28] If you're resonating with this, I want you to come find me on Instagram and I want you to send me a message so that I know that you're listening and I know that you are resonating with this message. So I'm @daniliving life, Dani with an "I". Send me a message and let me know if you've been there before. And most of the time, what is holding you back?

[00:02:48] I know what has held me back in the past has been my own thoughts. How many of you get caught up in your own thoughts, your own fears, your [00:03:00] insecurities, right? And it's so much easier to stay in our comfort zones, right? We wanna cozy up on the couch. You know, it's, it's fall it it, honestly, in Vancouver, it feels like winter right now.

[00:03:12] It's so cold. It was like snowing the other day, which is crazy and wild. But you know, we want a cozy up in the couch, in our cozy blanket with our cozy cup of tea. And trust me, I love cozy and comfort probably more than even most of you. Like I, I love being comfortable. I'm literally here in my sweater and my slippers and I have a blanket on my lap and I have a tea beside me.

[00:03:37] Like I love comfort, okay? But when it comes to staying in our comfort zone when it comes to our businesses, that is something that holds us back. And I want you to think about this. I want you to think about what you could create in your life and in your business if you were able to push past that fear and [00:04:00] actually take action? What could you create?

[00:04:03] What do you know is possible for you, but you know you're holding yourself back? I do a lot of coaching within our Action Takers Club program with our V I P Mastermind clients, and also one-on-one. And one of the biggest things that holds people back is this idea that they're not qualified or they're not ready, or they don't feel prepared for whatever it is that they're about to do.

[00:04:27] This could be a launch of a product, or maybe they're wanting to create something or put something into the world, start a podcast, build their email list, launch a digital product, create passive income. Whatever they're looking to do, right? But they think they need to be more qualified in order to do it.

[00:04:48] They think they need more time, more resources, more experience to make it happen. Yes, make a plan, and that is something that I help my clients to do, is to actually create a [00:05:00] roadmap, a strategic roadmap on how they're gonna get to their goals, but at the end of the day, it's up to the individual person. It's up to you to actually take action on that plan.

[00:05:14] Right? And that's where most people fall short. That's where most people get stuck is they know what they need to do. They have the roadmap, they have the strategy. They're like, alright, I'm ready to go. And then their thoughts get in the way and they start to second guess themselves. They see someone else launch the exact same product or service or resource that they were about to launch.

[00:05:39] And it takes them out of the game, right? That comparison comes into play and it's like, oh, this person is doing it so much better. Who am I to offer this? Who am I to be the expert in this area? Who am I to launch a podcast? Who am I to build a business? And, let me tell you, if you were to tell me, eight [00:06:00] years ago when I started this business, this community, that I would have a global community, that our company would be hosting events across North America, that we would have a top 1.5% podcast, which is because of you guys, by the way, so thank you for your support. Thank you for listening and sharing and all of that.

[00:06:23] But I would be coaching incredible women, brilliant women entrepreneurs, how to grow and scale their businesses, hosting masterminds, building authentic, intimate community with entrepreneurs who were scaling and growing their business so successfully.

[00:06:45] And then I was the mentor for that, that I'd have multiple revenue streams in my business. I would've not believed you if you would've told me that eight years ago when I was just getting started, when [00:07:00] this was just a little idea in my head of, okay, let's host this little pop-up event for entrepreneurs to, you know, have a place to connect and create community and collaborate with one another.

[00:07:12] At the time, I had no idea what it was gonna look like long term. I had no clue. Of course, I had goals and plans and thoughts of what, what could be possible, but I never saw the big vision that now I see today. And now that we're in this place of having, like I said, multiple revenue streams. And we have this podcast and we have events happening in our programs, our online course, and our mastermind and coaching.

[00:07:44] I'm starting to see a bigger and bigger vision for the business because I wanna serve more and more women. And when I started this business, I did not feel ready at all. I was so terrified, to put myself [00:08:00] out there. So much so that I actually kept my business a secret from my close family's family and friends for the first few months.

[00:08:08] And I did this and i, I hope some of you can resonate with me on this. The reason why I did this is because I was embarrassed. I didn't know if it was gonna succeed or fail, so I built my business in secret. Can you believe it? Like, you know how , you know how when you start your business, you're like, okay, I'm gonna start my business.

[00:08:29] I'm gonna start with my warm list of people that I know and that are gonna support me, which is, which is your friends and family, right? Like those are the people you're supposed to start with to, because you know that they're gonna support you. And I was so embarrassed about starting this community because I, I had such imposter syndrome.

[00:08:49] So I built my business in secret for the first few months. And of course, eventually I did come out and share with my friends and family what I was doing. But it's [00:09:00] almost like I had to prove to myself that I could do it before I was willing to share it with people. And you know, I think back to that and, and it actually makes me kind of sad because I wasn't confident enough in that moment to really own what I was doing.

[00:09:19] and I hope this resonates with some of you. Some of you are, are sitting there or maybe you're walking or maybe you're taking a shower or you're doing the dishes or laundry or whatever you're doing right now, and you're like, yep, that's me. I am holding myself back. Whether that is, you know, you wanna start a business, you wanna launch a business, and you're holding yourself back because you're scared of what other people are gonna think about you.

[00:09:42] Or maybe you do have a business, but you know there's that next level for you. You know that there's more that you can create with your business, but the reason you're not creating that is because you're scared. You don't feel like you're ready, you are comparing yourself to all of these other [00:10:00] people who you think have it all together.

[00:10:02] By the way, no one has it all together, and that's why I love this podcast. That's why I love bringing on guests who can share their experiences because none of us have it all together and a lot of us are so similar in the way that we feel and think and the reasons why we hold ourselves back. Because when I started my business, I did not feel ready.

[00:10:26] And many of the things that I have pursued in my business I haven't felt ready for. This podcast is a great example. I did not feel ready to launch a podcast, and I've told this story on the podcast before, but if you haven't heard it yet, I kept pushing my launch date. So I was like, okay, I'm gonna launch in September.

[00:10:45] I'm gonna launch in October. I'm gonna launch in November. And then it came to December. I'm like, I don't know, like December's probably not a good time to launch. I'm gonna launch in January. And my husband was like, no. No, you're not. you are launching in December. [00:11:00] So I launched the end of December right before Christmas, and guess what?

[00:11:05] It was a huge success. I thought that people around Christmas were not gonna wanna listen to podcasts. But it turned out that they did because they had a lot of downtime. A lot of people were at home and you know, it was, uh, 2020. So not a lot of people are getting together. And it ended up being an amazing time to lo launch podcasts.

[00:11:25] But, you know, I would've just pushed that date, pushed that date. And the reason I wanna share that story with you is because, You need accountability in your life. You need other people to speak into your life and into your business and encourage you and push you to do things that you might not be ready to do.

[00:11:44] And that's a huge reason why I'm investing in things for me to get accountability. I'm investing in a coach. I'm investing in programs. I'm investing in communities that can help me level up in my business. And I was sharing this with a client recently about [00:12:00] how there have been so many things that I've done in my business that have been outside of my comfort zone, like speaking on stages, hosting events, doing live workshops, showing up on social media.

[00:12:11] You name it, like there's been so many things that I've been really scared to do. Here's the cool thing is that so many things that I used to be scared to do are now actually in my comfort zone. And these are things that I actually love to do, things that I used to be terrified of that I didn't wanna do that made me so nervous and so uncomfortable are now things that I truly love and enjoy.

[00:12:36] And sure, of course I get a bit nervous before a big speaking engagement or you know, I always tell people I get nervous before I host my events, but it is so much more comfortable for me now. Because I've done it so many times and so I can look back and anytime I feel that fear or I feel that anxiety coming in, I can say, no, I've [00:13:00] actually done this before, and if I've done it before, I can absolutely do it again.

[00:13:05] Another thing that I shared with this client is that I know to get to the next level in my business, there are things that I'm now challenging myself to do and getting accountability for that outside of my comfort zone. But I'm choosing to move forward and I'm choosing to take action anyways because I know there are still ways in my life and business that I'm holding myself back from growth, and I know that there's so much more that's possible for me to achieve.

[00:13:33] And I also know that the only thing that's holding me back is me. which is why I know I have to invest in these things. And I think you know the same thing. You know that you are holding yourself back. You know you're capable of things, you know, you can do things, you know, you can grow your business to the next level, achieve the goals that you wanna achieve, but there's something standing in your way. And it's the thoughts and it's the feelings that you [00:14:00] have that take you out of the game.

[00:14:01] So I wanna encourage you today to take those small, seemingly insignificant steps that are outside of your comfort zone, I want you to take those steps forward. Choose one thing that you can do today that you know is out outside of your comfort zone. Could be showing up on social media. It could be emailing a potential collaboration or a potential client.

[00:14:25] It could be following up, it could be having a hard conversation, could be pitching yourself for something. Whatever that is, that is outside of your comfort zone, I want you to take a step forward. Maybe it's investing in something that you've been thinking about investing in, but you're scared to put the money down because it feels uncomfortable.

[00:14:44] Maybe it's making a decision that you're going to finally start writing that book, or launch that podcast or host your first event. Whatever it is, tell someone about it, right? Get accountability. Get people in your corner who can [00:15:00] support you and cheer you on when things get hard.

[00:15:03] community is so incredibly vital, you guys, you need that accountability. You need that support. You need that feedback because, if you're trying to do it all alone, I can guarantee you you're going to get stuck. And then when you get stuck and you don't know how to move forward, you start to doubt yourself. And then you start in this comparison trap.

[00:15:23] And if there's no one there to lift you and bring you out of it, You're gonna be there for a very long time. So get that accountability, get in community. You know how important it is to get in community. So if you haven't done that yet, find a community that resonates with you.

[00:15:40] It could be our community, we would love to have you a part of our community. But if it's not ours, please, please find a community where you can res, that you resonate with and find someone who can be a mentor or a coach for you. It is so, so important for your growth. So I hope that encourages you today. Set those [00:16:00] big goals and dreams for yourself, and then take those small actions that you know are gonna push you forward even if they're outside of your comfort zone.

[00:16:09] Okay. So I would love to hear what those actions are. If you are going to take those steps outside of your comfort zone, please reach out to me and let me know.
