EPISODE 46 - THE LIFE OF A MULTIPOTENTIALITE WITH SIX-FIGURE MULTI-PASSIONATE BUSINESS OWNER AND MOM, TAYLOR ALLER

Today on the podcast, Danielle is joined by Taylor Aller! Taylor is a self-proclaimed Multipotentialite (which you’ll learn more about what that means in this episode!) She’s a six-figure entrepreneur and serves in British Columbia as an RMT, Educator, Speaker, and Consultant. She’s a Co-Founder of The Relationship Project and The PIP SUMMIT (that she hosted with another Member of our Mastermind Diane) and a proud team member with the non-profit, Free to Be Talks.

Taylor is one of the OG’s of our Business Babes Collective Community, she signed up for Action Takers Club the very first round Danielle ever hosted it 4 years ago - back then, it wasn’t an evergreen course, host live, and Taylor actually ended up taking it twice - then she was the VERY first Member of our Mastermind 3 years ago and is still a member today!

In this episode, Danielle and Taylor talk about how she organizes her time and sets boundaries as a multi-passionate entrepreneur, thinking about opportunities creatively, the power of vulnerability and so much more!

Key Takeaways:

  • Taylor introduces herself as a multipotentialite and describes it as “somebody who is passionate about more than one thing” and shares a little bit about her many passions.

  • Danielle asks Taylor how she balances and prioritizes her tasks. Taylor says “There’s the magic in the truth” and explains that the magic is that she believes most people could do the things they want to do in their lifetime - you just can’t do it all at once and you can’t do it by yourself. She explains how she utilizes balance in motion - maintaining balance by moving and prioritizing the things that will keep you moving.

  • As a big planner, she is always reverse-engineering things to see how they would work. She would break a year down into seasons, and those seasons down into goals, and those goals down into tasks to make everything manageable.

  • Danielle asks Taylor about boundaries that protect the season she is pursuing - Taylor does share how boundaries are difficult! She shares how opportunities are like a puzzle piece and how she takes time to ask “how does this fit the big picture?” She also shares how she says “not yet” or “not like that” instead of “no” and offers another solution in its place. Danielle explains how Taylor practicing boundaries is also a great way of building a network and community.

  • Taylor talks about embracing her “unique unicorn” self and how, when she accepted the way she is wired and her multitude of passions and skills, it made her realize that she has so many different connective intersections and there was success to be found there.

  • Taylor shares her “aha moment” listening to Elizabeth Gilbert and learning the difference between: Jackhammers - people made for one thing who focus everything on it - and Hummingbirds - people who float around and develop a vast range of skills and knowledge.

  • Taylor encourages the Hummingbirds - “there’s nothing wrong with unfinished projects” and talks about how multipotentialites often experience with “passion fatigue” and breaks down how to manage your passions:

    1. Embrace yourself and all that comes with you

    2. Find people around you who will support you

    3. Take time to reverse-engineer your passion plans

  • Danielle talks about how the things you learn along the way can translate to other experiences.

  • Taylor talks about how experience is more valuable than a degree or diploma and how impactful that is in the entrepreneurial space. There is no timeline on a skill mastery.

  • Danielle says that just because you’re putting something on pause, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be forever. The time on pause can give clarity as to whether or not an opportunity - there are very few “once in a lifetime” opportunities. Being afraid of missing an opportunity can cause you to overcommit and fall into burnout.

  • Danielle asks what aspect relationship and community plays in Taylor’s entrepreneurial journey and Taylor responds that they are absolutely the most important component and how she’s learned that through both successful and failed relationships. She talks about how the vulnerability is “making something valuable to you, liable to someone else” and how letting others “see her marshmallow” became a practiced, beautiful exchange.

  • Danielle asks Taylor what she is most proud of - Taylor responds that she is most proud of creating something that has the ability and flexibility to walk with her, wherever she goes. She has something dynamic that will shift and grow with her as she does, and serves the world and her family exactly where she is. Taylor prompts Danielle to also share, and Danielle talks about how she is proud of:

    • her ability to pivot and build a business that gives her flexibility while it serves others as well as

    • the community she has built that connects and empowers others and how it continues to motivate her. How she hasn’t had to sacrifice her goals in order to maximize her impact in the process.
