TRANSCRIPT

[00:00:00] DANIELLE: Hello everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. I'm so excited that you're here and I can't believe we are so close to Christmas. I hope you're excited for this season. I am personally really excited to just unplug, spend some time with family and friends, and just enjoy this time. So in today's episode, I'm really excited.

[00:00:22] DANIELLE: We are gonna be doing end of year reflections, intentions and goal setting together. , you and I are going to just pretend that we are together in person and that we're besties because if you are listening to this podcast, then let's just call it what it is. We basically are, I'm in your earbuds to twice a week and it is so great that we get to build this relationship virtually, so.

[00:00:48] DANIELLE: So I am so excited to do this exercise with you today. I'm gonna be asking questions and prompts that I want you to reflect on yourself, and I'm gonna be sharing with you [00:01:00] my answers to these questions. So today we're about to get real, we're about to get raw and vulnerable, and I hope you're ready. So I'm really excited.

[00:01:09] DANIELLE: So we're gonna start with actually reflecting on our year. So reflecting over the past 12 months. So I'm gonna pose a question. And you're gonna ask yourself that question, and I'm going to actually share with you what I came up with to an answer to that specific question.

[00:01:27] DANIELLE: So the first question is, what did I accomplish or create this year that I'm really proud of? So for me, I'm really proud that we hit some of the financial goals that we set within the business. I'm really proud that, um, we made two large investments in the business, um, in the form of coaching and mentorship.

[00:01:49] DANIELLE: And, um, courses that is going to help me level up my leadership and help us expand our business and also expand our network even further. So [00:02:00] I'm really proud of that. I'm really proud for taking those scary steps because investing in yourself and investing in your business can sometimes feel really scary.

[00:02:09] DANIELLE: So I'm proud of myself for that as well. And I'm proud of the boundaries that I set this year around my time boundaries, especially around my time, have always been something that has been a pretty big struggle for me. And so I'm just proud of myself for taking those steps to create those boundaries and to create, um, more flexibility within my schedule.

[00:02:33] DANIELLE: And. Packing my schedule with things just to pack it with things. So really prioritizing the things that are important to me, things that are important to move and scale the business forward, and also saying no to some things, which is really challenging for me. So I'm proud of myself for that. I'm also really proud of the in-person events that we hosted this past year.[00:03:00]

[00:03:00] DANIELLE: We hosted our very first event since Covid back in May and Vancouver, and we hosted, um, a mastermind event in the summer, and then we just recently hosted a holiday event as well. Um, and our San Diego chapter is also starting to host events again. So it's just been really exciting to see that community.

[00:03:23] DANIELLE: Of course, we've been building community over. Several years, uh, online as well. But it's been really cool to see that in-person community come together as well, and that's been so, so fun. So I'm definitely really proud of our team for putting those together. . So how this is gonna work is after I share my answer to the questions that I'm sharing, I want you to pause this episode and I want you to answer it yourself.

[00:03:51] DANIELLE: So the question again was, what did I accomplish or create this year that I'm really proud of? So pause this episode and write down your. . [00:04:00] Okay. The next question is, what challenges did I face this year and what can I learn from those challenges? . So we had a lot of challenges this year as we do every single year, and I think that challenges need to be looked at as things that we can really grow from and things that we can really learn from as well.

[00:04:23] DANIELLE: So one of the challenges that we've face is actually around the growth that we had in the business. So obviously bringing back the events, um, balancing that with now the online community that we've been growing and scaling, and so having that limited capacity and really trying to. , for lack of a better, better word, juggle all of the things that we are now doing, right?

[00:04:45] DANIELLE: So our, as our business grew online, it was become really becoming really streamlined and organized online. We had systems in place as far as you know, what was getting done, what was our weekly schedule, that kind of thing. And when you throw on [00:05:00] top of. A live event. Anyone who's hosted a live event knows that there's a lot of things that come up, and so things end up getting put on the back burner.

[00:05:11] DANIELLE: and it's, it's really challenging, I'll say to, you know, keep everything going the way that it was. And you have to create new systems, and you have to create new, like a new daily and weekly rhythm to your calendar when you're adding on new things, whether that be having an event or if you're launching a new product or new service, whatever that might be in your business.

[00:05:38] DANIELLE: You're going to have to shift things and change things, and so that was definitely a challenge that we experienced this year. And what I can learn from that is exactly kind of what I said, is creating more systems, better systems, being more organized, and also asking for more help and not being afraid to out.[00:06:00]

[00:06:00] DANIELLE: More than we currently are, and asking for support from the team and creating some really good partnerships and collaborations, which we have started to do, which we're really, really excited about. So that was one of the challenges we faced. Another challenge was just the fact. That, you know, I found out I was pregnant.

[00:06:17] DANIELLE: So the first trimester was a challenge. Definitely. I would say it was a challenge both mentally and physically. Um, and I felt very similar when I was pregnant with our first Rosie. The first trimester was really tough for me, and it was tough for me this time around as. . So not only did I feel nauseous and just like not feeling well faced physically, I was exhausted, completely exhausted.

[00:06:48] DANIELLE: I didn't want to eat anything, but I was starving all the time. Um, and I didn't feel like myself. And I think that was one of the hardest things and one of the hardest things for me [00:07:00] about first trimester in pregnancy is that, Feel kind of down. I don't feel like my normal, you know, happy-go-lucky version of myself.

[00:07:10] DANIELLE: I don't feel motivated, I don't feel inspired, and I just feel kind of blessed, like if I'm being honest. And so I think that. . What I learned from that is that I learned how to properly prioritize the things that were most important within my life and business because, you know, during that season, the first trimester, which is about three months long, right?

[00:07:35] DANIELLE: Like I had to say no to some opportunities. I had to be going to bed early, um, trying to take naps, um, when I wasn't with Rosie or working and really just trying to. Balance those things and make sure that I'm prioritizing. not only the things that are really important within my life and business, but also prioritizing my own health and getting enough rest during that [00:08:00] time as well.

[00:08:00] DANIELLE: And so now that I'm in my second trimester, I feel a thousand times better. I feel so energized, I feel like myself again, and it's just this really beautiful season. And so right now I am really taking advantage of the energy and the excitement and the drive that I have because I know. going into another season where, you know, my late third trimester, and also of course, when baby's born, it will, I will have to slow down again.

[00:08:31] DANIELLE: And so I'm really taking advantage of this time, or I have this energy and I have this inspiration and excitement. . And so really like honing in and focusing in and really keeping myself disciplined to take advantage of all of that. So now I want you to an answer the same question. What challenges did you face this year and how can you learn from them?

[00:08:56] DANIELLE: So pause it, write down your answers to [00:09:00] those questions. Okay, the next question is, what is a story I am willing to let go of? What is this story I'm willing to let go of? So for. A story that I've told myself for a long time, , was that I was not a good leader, and I started to break free from that belief and instead understand that I am in the process of learning how to become a better leader.

[00:09:29] DANIELLE: And so I've made some, I've taken some steps to actually invest in a program that is a leadership program. And that is going to help me develop those leadership skills. And, uh, you know, I've had this story feeling like I wasn't a good boss. I wasn't good at delegating. I was too disorganized to delegate properly.

[00:09:52] DANIELLE: All of those things that I've told myself and, you know, building a team. And outsourcing. When you [00:10:00] start to grow your business, when your business starts to grow, and you know, sharing that vision with people that are inside your organization and also people that are collaborators and wanting to help help you, it can be a challenge.

[00:10:13] DANIELLE: And so for me, one of my biggest goals, which I'll get into later, one of my biggest goals this year is to develop my leadership, cuz I'm willing to let go of the story that has kept me stuck. I want you to think about the same question. What is a story that you're willing to let go of? What do you feel is holding you back from getting you to that next level in your life or in your business?

[00:10:41] DANIELLE: Maybe it's the fact that you think you don't have the experience. Maybe you feel like you're not smart enough or you don't have enough time, or you don't have to enough money. All of those things are stories that we tell ourselves to keep ourselves safe. Really, if [00:11:00] you think about it, it's really, it's not that those things are true.

[00:11:04] DANIELLE: It's really excuses that we make that. Deeply believe are true, and those are the things that are holding us back from actually growing to that next level. And that's why, you know, I talk about a lot, personal development is so, so important when it comes to growing your business. Because if you are not growing, it's gonna be very, very difficult for your business to grow.

[00:11:29] DANIELLE: So answer that question, what is the story that you are willing to let go of before the. , okay. Intentions for 2023. Let's get into some intentions and goal setting. This is where it gets fun. So the first question is, , what do I feel really inspired to do or to create this year? So for me, there are so many things that I'm really excited to create this next year.

[00:11:58] DANIELLE: I mean, I'm creating a [00:12:00] baby, so that is definitely one thing. But because this is a business podcast, I'm going to, um, keep it business focused mostly. One of the things I'm really excited about is that we are hosting a virtual conference. The next thing that we're doing is hosting a virtual conference that is going to be hosted at the end of January, and we're also gonna be hosting some live events as well.

[00:12:24] DANIELLE: But I'm really excited about this virtual conference, and the reason I'm excited is because I'm gonna be getting together experts, amazing people that I'm personally so inspired by and that I've wanted to collaborate for a long time with. Bringing them all together into this one virtual event where it's gonna be free to sign up.

[00:12:48] DANIELLE: We will have a V I P optional upgrade, but it's gonna be free and it's gonna be for the entrepreneur who is really looking to create a breakthrough in [00:13:00] their business this year. So they've had things that have been keeping them stuck and they're ready to break through. They're ready to get to that next level.

[00:13:08] DANIELLE: And so providing. With a space, inspiration connections, community support resources that is gonna help them get there. So I am so excited about this. I have this big vision for what this event is gonna be like, and I absolutely can't wait. So that is what I'm really excited to create this year. So ask yourself the same question.

[00:13:30] DANIELLE: What are you really excited to create this? . Second question is, what is the payoff for making this project happen? So what is the payoff for you specifically and for your business? So for us, the payoff is growing and building our community, building relationships with inspiring people and brands, growing our exposure, [00:14:00] building our email list, and also growing our revenue.

[00:14:04] DANIELLE: So those are all the benefits for us as a. So think about your project or your whatever you are wanting to create this year, what is the goal that you have? What is something that you feel really inspired to do? And then what is the payoff for making that happen? . Okay. Next question is, how will this project benefit others?

[00:14:28] DANIELLE: So for us, our virtual event, it is going to benefit others. It's going to benefit others in so many different ways. So the speakers, it's gonna benefit the speakers because they are gonna be able to have a platform to share their message and share, share their mission with others. They're gonna be able to connect with the.

[00:14:46] DANIELLE: Speakers as well, and create relationships for the attendees. They are going to get resources, they're going to get inspiration. They're gonna get education and connection and support. And then also we are planning [00:15:00] to partner with a charity partner for this event as well, which I'll tell you all about in future episodes of this podcast.

[00:15:07] DANIELLE: So stay tuned for that. So there's lots of benefits that are gonna come out of this conference that I'm so excited. . So how will this project benefit others? The next question is, what skills do I have to learn and who do I have to become for this goal to become a reality? So for me, although I've hosted virtual events before, I'm planning on doing this one a little bit differently.

[00:15:36] DANIELLE: First of all, I am dreaming bigger . I, I have this really big vision of, of what I'm creating and what we're doing with this conference, but also we're gonna be using different technology that is going to help us facilitate this event. And so, um, And my team are going to have to learn this tech and just make sure that everything is flowing perfectly so that there's [00:16:00] as little glitches as possible when it comes to the virtual event and actually making it happen.

[00:16:06] DANIELLE: Um, also, , who will I have to become? I will have to step into that leadership role, not only to lead the team to make it happen, but also lead our speakers and lead the event itself. And so really stepping into that leadership role, and that's something I'm really excited about. I'm really excited for the challenge of that.

[00:16:24] DANIELLE: And so that is the answer to who do I have to. . So I want you to ask yourself the same questions for your goal, for what you feel really inspired to create. What skills do you have to learn, and who do you have to become to make this a reality? Okay, the next question is, how do you want to feel when you achieve this goal?

[00:16:48] DANIELLE: How do you wanna feel when you achieve this goal? For me, I wanna feel excited. I wanna feel grateful. I wanna feel inspired. I wanna feel connected. [00:17:00] I wanna feel proud. I wanna feel proud of of myself. I wanna feel proud of our team, our community. And lastly, I want to feel challenged. I wanna feel challenged to push past my fears, to dream bigger for our business than I have before.

[00:17:17] DANIELLE: And I love that because you know, when you surround yourself with people who are doing really big things and. Who you are inspired by, it helps you create a new vision for yourself. It cre helps you create a bigger vision, and it's so, so powerful what a vision can do to help pull us forward. It can help us get over our fear and do the thing that we're fearing, even though we're terrified to do it.

[00:17:47] DANIELLE: And so I wanna feel. . So how do you enough wanna feel when you achieve this goal? Okay, now we're gonna talk about some tacticals. So tips for actually getting [00:18:00] started on making this goal a reality. So the first question for getting started is, what is the first step that's going to help you reach this goal?

[00:18:09] DANIELLE: So, for me, it, I've already done some of the first steps here, so booking the date for the virtual conference. It's gonna be January 30th, so put it in your calendar, mark it off. You can also join the wait list if you go to our website, so go to business babes collective.com. You'll see a little black bar at the top.

[00:18:29] DANIELLE: You can click on that. Join the wait list. and we will let you know once registration is open. So I've already done that, and now it's reaching out to our dream list of speakers. Now we've already reached out to about 60 to 70% of them. It's. So that is underway as well. We're taking a little break for the holidays and we're gonna be back at it after, um, Christmas and New Year's as well.

[00:18:55] DANIELLE: So that is my first steps to make this goal, make this [00:19:00] vision a reality for myself. So I want you to ask yourself the first, That same question. What is the first step to help you make this goal that you have a reality? The second one is, what is one thing I need to stop doing? . For me, it's getting distracted on social media.

[00:19:19] DANIELLE: You guys, I have put boundaries on this. I have been really good at times. The last few weeks I would say I have not been good at this. I have not been good at putting boundaries around my time on social media. . That is something that I need to do because I know that if I get sucked in, if I get distracted, I'm gonna be on there for hours, and those are precious hours that I can be using for productive work on my business.

[00:19:46] DANIELLE: So not getting distracted. What is it for you? What's one thing you need to stop doing? Okay, the third one is, what boundaries do you need to put into? for me, I need to say no to [00:20:00] opportunities and things that come up that actually don't align or help support the mission of what I'm creating next, which is the conference.

[00:20:08] DANIELLE: So anything that doesn't align with that or anything that is basically a distraction I need to say no to, and I need to postpone until after that is done. So that is another. Okay. The fourth question, I think it's the fourth. Yes. Um, who do you need to surround yourself with? for me, that's surrounding myself with people who can support me, people who have done this type of an event before.

[00:20:35] DANIELLE: Luckily, I just recently, like I said, invested in a course in a community, and so for me, I have people that I can ask questions to, that I can get support from, and I think that's so incredibly. I. So for you, who do you need to surround yourself with to make your big goals a reality? What communities do you need to be a part of?

[00:20:56] DANIELLE: Um, do you need to get coaching or accountability? What does that look [00:21:00] like? So that question, which is, do I need accountability, support and community? So for me, the answer is yes, absolutely. And I am getting that support and I'm getting that coaching within the program and coaching opportunity that I'm a part of.

[00:21:17] DANIELLE: The fifth, sixth question, I've lost track now. That's okay. Um, is how will I keep track of my progress to know if I'm on track to hit my goals? So for me, I'm gonna be keeping track of this. With weekly check-ins, and I'm gonna track my goals inside of my task management software. We personally use a sauna, which I absolutely love.

[00:21:42] DANIELLE: And inside of our Action Takers Club, we actually have a training, it's a profitable workflow training. So if you're listening to this and you're in Action Takers Club, you can take that training and it kind of goes through how we manage our asana and how we create profitable [00:22:00] workflows. So I'm gonna be tracking all of my goals within Asana.

[00:22:03] DANIELLE: And also within Google Sheets and Google Docs. So I'm gonna have a weekly check-in tracking my goals, tracking if I'm on, on target, and making sure that I'm on track. So for you, how are you gonna track your progress? How are you gonna make sure that you are on track to hit those goals? Okay. The final question is, what are my daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that I'm gonna be doing on a consistent basis to make these goals a.

[00:22:31] DANIELLE: So if your goal is something that is going to take several months to accomplish, which. Great. Like it maybe it's gonna take you the whole year to accomplish it. Awesome. I just happen to have a goal that is within a month. That does not mean that you have to do that same thing. That's just what my goal is for the next month.

[00:22:51] DANIELLE: And then the month after that, I'll have another goal, and the month after that, I'll have another goal. And the reason for that also is because I have a [00:23:00] deadline. I have a baby. End of April. And so I am doing a few things that I really want to accomplish before a baby comes. And so I have that deadline.

[00:23:09] DANIELLE: So really this, I don't want you to look at my goals and be like, oh, I need to have the same goals, or I need to do something in January too. Think about what is that next step for you in your business? What is that next goal that you want to accomplish, and how long is that goal gonna take you? And then answering this question, what are my daily and weekly and potentially monthly tasks that I'm going to be doing on an ongoing basis to make this goal happen?

[00:23:38] DANIELLE: So I want you to break those big goals down into super small steps. We talk about this again in Action Takers Club. Basically what it is you do a brain dump of all the different things that you're gonna have to do, all the to-dos that are necessary in order to make the school happen. , and then what you do is you break those down into super, [00:24:00] super small, manageable tasks.

[00:24:01] DANIELLE: I like breaking them down into things that take you 10 minutes or less, and then you schedule those things in and you schedule them in daily and weekly because if you have that consistency that is going to. , that is going to be the thing that is gonna pull you forward. If you're like, okay, I'm gonna, you know, go all in for a week, and then the next week you do nothing, and then you're all in again, and then you do nothing, and then you pause.

[00:24:27] DANIELLE: Then you start and you stop. All of those things are not gonna create the momentum for you, and I want you to start to see that momentum. I want you to start to see that snowball effect happen within your business. And the snowball effect happens when we do small, seemingly insignificant tasks that actually add up to those big goals and those big successes in our business.

[00:24:51] DANIELLE: So I hope this episode was helpful for you. I hope you enjoyed this process. If you didn't go through this process the first time, [00:25:00] listen to this episode again. Pause it after each question, write it down. and then let me know. I would love, love, love to hear from you. I would love to hear what breakthroughs you're having and you know, the goals that you're setting and what you're putting out there.

[00:25:17] DANIELLE: I think it's so powerful when, when you can tell another human being what your goal is. They can keep you accountable. Right. And so tell me, tell me your goal. I would love to hear what your goals are for 2023. I would love to hear what you're working on. If you wanna tell a friend or a family member, maybe you want it publicly declared on social media, whatever you wanna do, do that.

[00:25:40] DANIELLE: Because once you tell someone else, it makes it real. So that's the last step. That's the last step for you is tell someone what your goal is, start putting it out there, because then you're gonna have that accountability to actually make it happen. So thank you for listening today. I hope you enjoyed this episode.

[00:25:58] DANIELLE: Don't forget to [00:26:00] sign up for our wait list for our conference on January 30th. I'm so excited to see you then. And in the meantime, Have an amazing Christmas, have an amazing new Year, and whenever you're listening to this, even if it is in the new year, I hope you are taking time also to take care of yourself.

[00:26:21] DANIELLE: So whatever that looks like for you, getting enough sleep, eating well, taking care of your relationships, business goals are amazing and I'm so passionate about talking about that. But make sure you do have your priorities in line as well, so I will see you in our next. Have a great rest of your day.

[00:26:40] DANIELLE: We'll talk to you soon.
