Building Personal Relationships
Email marketing allows you to build a personal relationship with your audience.
Unlike social media, where people follow numerous accounts, email subscribers have chosen to receive your content.
By landing in their inbox, you stay top of mind and create a reminder of your brand.
Measurable and Customizable
Email marketing provides the ability to measure and customize campaigns.
Tracking metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates help improve results over time.
Segmenting your email list based on interests and demographics allows for targeted communication.
Drives Traffic to Your Website
Email marketing is an effective way to drive traffic to your website.
Unlike social media, where users are often in a passive mode, people checking their emails are more likely to take action.
Including strategic calls to action in emails can increase website visits and promote products or services.
No Algorithm Limitations
Unlike social media algorithms, email marketing is not subject to algorithms.
Once someone subscribes to your email list, your emails will land in their inbox.
This eliminates concerns about posts being unseen or affected by algorithms.
High Conversion and Profit Potential
Email marketing has a high conversion and profit potential for businesses.
It allows for personalized communication and the opportunity to build trust with subscribers.
Email campaigns can be tailored to specific goals, such as promoting products, services, or driving conversions.
Email marketing is a powerful tool for growing your business by offering the opportunity to build personal relationships, drive website traffic, and achieve high conversions.
By prioritizing email marketing, businesses can harness its potential for increased profits and customer engagement.

[00:00:00] Danielle: Hello. Hello. Welcome back to the podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wiebe, and I am so excited and honored that you are spending this time with me today. We have a very, very juicy episode, and I'm so excited to dive in because this has been something that we. As a brand have been really focused on and really working towards the past several years, but really we've started to go all in.
[00:00:30] Danielle: especially this year, and so I'm excited to talk about this topic of building your email list and why I believe that email marketing should be a top priority for you in 2023. So I'm gonna keep this intro super short and sweet because I really would just wanna dive into the content today. So I hope you have your notebook and pen.
[00:00:50] Danielle: If you are driving or if you're walking or working out, that's totally fine. Listen to this episode, but I encourage you to actually listening. Listen to it a second time so you can [00:01:00] take some notes, because this is gonna be a very tangible. Um, episode we're gonna be sharing the reasons why I believe that email marketing is so, so vital for you to focus on this year.
[00:01:10] Danielle: So let's go ahead and dive right in. Welcome to the Business Babes Collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Weep. In this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and strategies on how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses.
[00:01:35] Danielle: Let's dive in as we discuss the wild, exciting, crazy challenging, rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship. Whenever I ask someone, whether it be a client or a mastermind member or even just someone a part of our community, if they have an email list, I usually get very similar responses. I get, uh oh, I've been meaning to work on that, or, I [00:02:00] know it's important, but I haven't really gotten around to it yet.
[00:02:03] Danielle: Or I have a newsletter and I haven't opt-in on my website, but I'm not really utilizing email marketing. I know as much as I. That is normally the response I get when I talk to people about email marketing. And the crazy part about all of this is that often the same people are the ones showing up every single day on Instagram and they're building their social media channels.
[00:02:29] Danielle: And I have nothing against social media. You guys have heard me talk about social media before and how. It is an incredible opportunity, of course to reach a broad audience, and I understand the strategy behind building it for your business. We have absolutely used social media to help build our brand and business, however, Email marketing is so incredibly powerful, and I am gonna argue that it's actually more powerful when it comes [00:03:00] to actually driving profits into your business more than social media.
[00:03:06] Danielle: Now, I might have people that are not agreeing with me right now. I might have just ruffled your feathers and maybe you're upset with me right now. That's okay. Keep listening. Keep an open heart and mind to this because like I said, I don't have anything against social media. However, I do believe that email marketing actually should be your top priority this year.
[00:03:32] Danielle: social media to grow your business. And the reason that I believe that is five different reasons that I'm gonna share with you in just a minute. But what if I told you that by focusing on doubling your email subscribers could also mean doubling? your income, would that give you more urgency to lean into building your email list?
[00:03:55] Danielle: I hope so. Okay. Our email is actually the main [00:04:00] driver of profits in our business. It's the main way that we connect with new clients and customers. And the other reason why I really love email marketing is because you can actually track your open rates and click through. and test different subject lines and different content ideas, and you can really get to know your community and how they respond to things, what they're interested in, and ultimately also have a back and forth conversation with them.
[00:04:28] Danielle: If you have a call to action within your emails that says something like, reply to this email if X, Y, Z, or replied to this email to get access to this, whatever that might be. And so that is something that we have really. Staying these past few years, but really focusing in and honing in even within the past few months and even weeks.
[00:04:51] Danielle: And something that I actually just recently found out, which is really cool, I did a quick Google search to try to figure out, okay, [00:05:00] what is a really good open, right? Because we know that with email marketing, of course, We can land in someone's e email inbox, but whether or not they open it is based on a few different things.
[00:05:13] Danielle: How relevant that email subject line is to them, whether or not they see it, what time you send it out at. All of those things really do matter. And so I went to this website's influencer marketing hub.com, and they were saying that a good open rate for email marketing is around 17 to. Percent. And so I looked at our emails over the past few weeks just to see where ours were at, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that our emails were actually at 35 to 49%.
[00:05:48] Danielle: Open. Right. Which is so exciting and it made me even more excited to record this episode for you because I thought to myself, wow, this is really cool. Obviously the things that we've [00:06:00] been testing and really investing time and energy and effort into testing different things that we think our audience and our community would be interested in is really paying off.
[00:06:12] Danielle: And so today I'm gonna be sharing with you five different reasons. Why email marketing should be a top priority for 2023 and why I believe it's the most effective way to connect with your ideal clients. Okay, let's go ahead and get started. So number one is email allows you to build a personal relationship with your audience.
[00:06:33] Danielle: So often when you think about it, you are following someone on social media, for example. You are also following. If not thousands of other people too. So you don't see everything that everyone of your, of the people that you follow posts, right? If you were to see every single post from every single person you follow, that would take a very long [00:07:00] time and you would probably be on, I.
[00:07:02] Danielle: all day long, right? And so, um, but when people are subscribed to your email list, they may only be subscribed to 10 or maybe 20 other email list. And often people only say, stay subscribed to someone if they truly find value in it, which means that there's so much value. Email list subscribers because those are people who have given you their name and their email, and they have raised their hand and said, yes, I am interested more in what you have to offer with your brand, with your business, whatever that might be.
[00:07:43] Danielle: And so it is a really incredible, intimate way to build a relationship with that person because an email lands in their inbox and most people check their inbox. Several times a day, and when they see an [00:08:00] email from you, even if they don't open that email, they see your name and it's a reminder of you.
[00:08:06] Danielle: It's a reminder of your brand, and you stay top of mind for your ideal clients. So that's the first reason why. Email marketing is so powerful and I love it, . The second reason is that it is highly measurable and customizable, so you can track metrics like I was talking about before. You can track open rates, click through rates, conversion rates, and so much more on basically any email platform.
[00:08:36] Danielle: That, that you use, we use Flow Desk and I actually have a specific promo code for you that I'm gonna share at the end as well. Um, so stay tuned for that because I, I absolutely love the platform and I have a 50% off coupon if you want it, but it's really cool because you can actually track and measure those.
[00:08:57] Danielle: um, those things, and it allows [00:09:00] you to actually use that data to improve your results over time so you can easily create campaigns for different, um, launches, for example, that you're doing for your business. You can test different subject lines, you can test different things that you're sharing within your emails and see how it translates to your audience.
[00:09:21] Danielle: And I find it is a really great way to understand what your clients, what your ideal clients are responding to and what they're not responding to. So for example, , we have our list broken down into, um, you can customize your, your emails as well. So if you're, you're, if you're kind of new to email marketing and you don't really know how it works, you can actually create.
[00:09:44] Danielle: different segments within your list. So if you have a full email list, let's say you tap 10,000 people on your email list, um, you can actually segment that list into different interests that those people have. So for example, [00:10:00] we have ours broken down into cities where people live specifically because of us hosting our events.
[00:10:08] Danielle: Now we also have this broken down into. If they've attended an in-person event or not. If they have, um, uh, been a student of ours, for example, if they are a mastermind member or a client, they are tagged specifically for that so that we know who that person is and we can directly speak to them in a really powerful way.
[00:10:33] Danielle: And that is really cool because we can be really specific when it comes to, hey, if we're hosting an event, for example, in Vancouver, , we might share that to our entire list a couple of times because, you know, there's people that live in Washington or there's people that, hey, live across Canada that wanna fly in for our events, or even in the states who wanna fly in for our events, and that's amazing.
[00:10:56] Danielle: So we'll definitely share it with our fur list, a coup full list a couple [00:11:00] of times. But more specifically, we're gonna be sharing it with our Vancouver tag at more often. Because it's targeted to the people that are in that city. So that's another way, that's another reason why I love email marketing. The third reason is that it helps drive traffic to your website.
[00:11:20] Danielle: So, When you're on social media, you are on that platform because you want to be on that platform. So it is difficult to have someone read a post and then click the link in your bio because they're on that app. You know, they're on Instagram. Most of the people that are on social media, they're there to kind of numb out.
[00:11:41] Danielle: They're there to entertain themselves. They're not necessarily there. Take action. However, when someone is checking their email, often they're in a mode of already taking action. And so when you send something to their, to their email, if it has a call to action [00:12:00] like, Hey, we just talked about this specific topic on our podcast.
[00:12:04] Danielle: Tune into this, or We just wrote a blog post on this, or we have a new product launch, check it out here. It drives a ton of traffic to your website. Because they're opening up the email, often they're on their desktop, so they're more likely to be clicking links that are actually driving traffic to your website.
[00:12:25] Danielle: And if you have a really great and really strategic calls to action, it can actually be a really great way for, um, you to drive profits into your business. So if you have a product-based business, or even if you. Service-based business or, um, if you have, let's say, digital products on your website, it can be an incredible way to promote those things as well.
[00:12:48] Danielle: Um, and then if you are someone like a coach or you have a service-based business, it's also a great way for you to get more traffic to things like filling out a form, an application for them [00:13:00] to work with you, et cetera, et cetera. So, uh, number. Is that thing that I love about email marketing and why I think it should be a priority for you is that there's no algorithm when it comes to email.
[00:13:14] Danielle: Isn't that amazing, ? I mean, how many times have you said to yourself, Ugh, the stupid algorithm like, No one is seeing my posts, no one is seeing what I'm sharing on social media. I'm trying so hard to, you know, uh, create this content that people are gonna love and relate to, and then ultimately buy my products and services.
[00:13:37] Danielle: And the dumb algorithm is not showing the people that I want it to show. Now, of course, I understand the algorithm is based on human behavior. . I get all of that. I get the science behind that. So if you're a social media marketer, I understand that aspect of it. However, when it comes to email, how cool is it that once someone [00:14:00] subscribes to your email list, there is no algorithm, which means it is going to land in their inbox and they might not open it Like I.
[00:14:12] Danielle: but you are going to land there. They're gonna see your name, they're gonna see your subject line, and you will be top of mind. It is a reminder of you. It is a reminder of your brand. And once in a while, you're gonna have that subject line that really resonates with that person. And they're gonna open it up.
[00:14:29] Danielle: They're gonna click through, they're gonna really engage with the content. And so it's so incredibly powerful. again, no algorithm when it comes to email, which is so awesome. Um, number five is that you can create automations in your emails so you can save yourself so much time and so much energy by setting up.
[00:14:54] Danielle: Automated email sequences and different campaigns. So for example, if someone [00:15:00] joins your email list, you can set up a welcome sequence, which is basically a series of emails that you set up one time, and then you never have to set it up again. . It's very simple to do. It's very easy. You can do that in basically any email software that you, that you use.
[00:15:19] Danielle: You can create a sequence. So for example, when they first sign up to your email, , um, you can say, welcome. So excited to have you here. Whatever information or calls to action you wanna have in that initial email, and then you can have a series of emails that actually continue to build that relationship.
[00:15:41] Danielle: With that person who has just signed up for your list. So how cool, how powerful is it that you can set something up once and it can be automated for for the rest of time? And this is also a really powerful thing if you have things like [00:16:00] workshops or free resources because you can target those welcome sequences specifically to the content that you're sharing.
[00:16:10] Danielle: Within that training or that free resource and cater that content specifically for the person who, uh, downloaded that free resource or listened to that workshop, et cetera. And so, . Those are the five reasons. There are so many more reasons why I love email, but I wanted to keep this episode short and sweet, and hopefully by now you're just like, okay, Danielle, I get it.
[00:16:38] Danielle: Email marketing is important. I need to start thinking about it, thinking about it. I need to start prioritizing it. And yes, yes you do. . If there's anything my mastermind members know, it's that I talk. All the time. I'm like a broken record. I really try to encourage them to think about growing their email list and different strategies they can do [00:17:00] to grow and also to be consistent with creating incredible content for their emails so that the people that are subscribed to their emails are getting incredible content from them and they actually are seeing those results compound and.
[00:17:19] Danielle: and my encouragement and action step for you today is if you have not already sign up for an email software if you currently don't have one and you want to start learning about email marketing, we personally use Flow Desk and we absolutely love it. And I actually do have a referral code for you where you can get 50% off your first entire year of flow desk.
[00:17:44] Danielle: And you can go to business babes collective.com/resources for the link to that. If you scroll down, you'll, you'll see it, or you can have the direct link that is in our show notes. I will put it within there for you. So just go onto the app where you're listening to this. [00:18:00] Episode and just click the link there and you can sign up for that for 50% off.
[00:18:05] Danielle: Now, the reason I really love Flow Desk, and I'll just share this quick snippet, is that, by the way, they did not sponsor this episode, . I'm just an affiliate for them and I absolutely love them. But we were using another email software, which I will not mention on this podcast. , but we were actually spending, I believe it was about $150 per month on that specific email software.
[00:18:28] Danielle: And we were able to switch to Flow desk, and I think now we got in on their beta pricing, which is actually the pricing that you're gonna get for a full year. If you sign up with my code for, I believe it was $19 a month. So we went from spending $150 a month to $19 a month. And the cool thing about that is that.
[00:18:46] Danielle: It actually sca. It actually does not charge you the more email subscribers that you have. So most email softwares will charge you more and more and more based on your [00:19:00] email list size, which. . I understand why they do that. However, it, it really sucks because it's like, as you grow and scale your business and as you get larger and larger numbers, you're actually having to pay more and more and more every single month for your email software.
[00:19:18] Danielle: Whereas Flow Desk, it's like a flat rate fee. I think the regular. Is somewhere around 40 to 50 a month and then again you get a discount for 50% off. So it's really affordable and I love their templates. They're beautiful, super simple, super easy to use. I'm not tech savvy at all, but I was able to figure it out.
[00:19:37] Danielle: Highly recommend. So again, get my 50% off for a year. Year, and I would love to hear from you too. So if you are like, Hey, Danielle. Want to invest in email marketing? I don't really even know where to start. I don't know how to build my email list. I don't know what to do. Send me a DM on Instagram because I would love to connect with you.
[00:19:59] Danielle: I would [00:20:00] love to learn more about your business. First of all, I love connecting with our podcast. Listeners there. It's so fun when you guys message me and we get to connect one-to-one there, but send me a direct message and let me know that you listen to this specific episode of the podcast. And then ask me, just say, Hey, do you have any thoughts or ideas of how I could potentially start to build and work on my email list?
[00:20:24] Danielle: And I'm happy to share my thoughts with you, my ideas with you. There's lots of different strategies to build an email list. One of my favorite ways to do that is through collaborative virtual events, which is something that I've actually been teaching inside of the program that we're running right now inside of our mastermind into some of my private clients as well, and it is such a powerful way to grow an engaged email list, an engaged community of people that.
[00:20:54] Danielle: Ideal clients for your business and ideal customers for your business. So if you wanna [00:21:00] learn more about that, if you want some ideas, I'm happy to share that with you. So find me on Instagram. If we're not already connected, go to Instagram and go to Danny. Danny with an I Living Life. That's my personal account, and you can send me a dm, and again, I will share with you some of my ideas for you.
[00:21:18] Danielle: But in the meantime, oh my goodness, thank you so, so much for listening. I know we have a lot of new listeners.
