Key Takeaways:

  • Tayler Aller

    • Identifies as a multipotentialite: meaning someone who is passionate about more than one thing and is successful at it

    • She does a few different things for business entrepreneurship and work:

      • Registered massage therapist in the lower mainland

      • A college educator

      • A public speaker

      • Business consultant

      • A creative amongst other things like owning an Etsy shop

    • Loves making lists, but the key with that is to actually enact it.

    • Biggest tip is to just do the work. Don't talk about it, don't tell everyone you're going to do it. Don't search how to do a plan, how to do it, vision board, all that, just go and do it. Just go do the thing, find out the task that you have to do the next best thing. That's going to move you forward in your business.

    • “This mastermind has changed the game for me so many times over when I've been stuck, when I've needed connections, when I'm not sure how to pitch something, craft something.”

  • Anthea

    • Founder of Claremont & Consulting, a Vancouver based bookkeeping and accounting firm

    • She helps business owners feel really empowered and really competent in their finances

    • Biggest tip is probably no surprise and it's to stay organized

    • She’s been a part of the Business Babe's mastermind for about a year. And the thing that she’s gotten the most out of it is having that kind of community and having support to guide her in her business.

  • Caylen

    • Founder and owner of Canvas Candle Company. They make 100% soy candles that are all natural and non-toxic. They create design focused candles that you feel comfortable gifting and bringing into your home.

    • Biggest business tip is to always practice self-care.

      • making sure you're getting enough sleep, enough rest, and that you're eating properly. This has been her number one thing that has helped her drive her business.

    • The biggest breakthrough that she’s had since joining the mastermind is having the confidence and knowledge to scale her business.

    • Since joining the mastermind, seh’s been able to double her sales year over year, and wouldn't have been able to do it without the expertise and the confidence that the other ladies give her.

    • She brings a rough idea to the call and then by the time they're done, seh’s got a great understanding of what the next steps she needs to take and where she needs to go.

  • Jenn

    • Founder and owner of Raising Humans. Their goal is to redefine baby goods. They're a baby brand that provides modern minimalistic and beautiful products without sacrificing functionality and style.

    • Two business tips:

      • Take business courses! Do not be shy of investing in education and knowledge, because as much as you can use YouTube university and different Google finds, there's nothing like having an expert, teach you and be there to guide you.

      • Find a community of like-minded individuals to support you. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, but if you seek opportunities to connect and network, you'll be surprised at how many people are willing to help you be successful

    • What she loves about the mastermind is that after discussion and tossing back and forth ideas, she had one of those light bulb moments and knew exactly what to do moving forward. She’s loved how open, honest, and transparent everyone is about their business and who they are. It truly is about collaboration over competition

  • Nora

    • She’s a photographer and specializes in family and newborn birth photography

    • Owner of Love Mom: they make organic and sustainable children's clothing that grows with them

    • Founder of Tropicals, where they do interior plant design

    • Business tip: Oftentimes we're chasing that balance in business, so her advice would be to just really ride those natural waves of your business instead.

  • Flavia

    • Founder of Pacific Basket Company. They have been making gift baskets and gift boxes for all locations for about 20 years. And they specialize in corporate gift giving.

    • Business tip:

      • Not worrying about what the competitors are doing when you find your niche and it's proven to be effective on your company's growth.

      • You just have to keep doing what works for you and evolve from there on your own terms, focusing on creating an outstanding product with the ideal customer in mind

    • Mastermind group:

      • Having a similar minded group of people giving you input on your business from different perspectives is I think it's extremely helpful. It encourages you to open up to new ideas. It benefits collaborations, and makes you take action on things that you never thought you could achieve. The possibility for them to move into a new location near downtown for her was a dream and working through all the details with the group made her decision.

  • AJ

    • Owner of Moon Child Creative. She’s an artist and illustrator.

    • Owner of Moon Child Media where she does web design and development.

    • Business tip

      • Recommends for business owners to find something to help you manage your projects or clients

    • Mastermind:

      • She found that it gives her support in her business and that she’s not alone in business. She has a team behind her helping support and cheer her on.

  • Ayesha

    • She’s an athletic therapist and podcast host of the How Unladylike Podcast

    • Business tip:

      • Ask questions!

      • Don't be afraid to reach out to somebody, even if they're in a different industry and ask questions. Most women out there are more than willing to give you information. And if you're someone who has people reach out, don't be afraid to share information. There's no reason you can't set boundaries with those people who reach out and give people information without giving away your secrets.

    • Mastermind

      • This amazing community of women just made things seem like it was okay if she didn't know the answer. And even if they didn't have the answer for her, they put her in the right direction.

      • It’s like having an automatic cheerleading squad behind you to cheer you on as you go.

  • Pearl

    • She’s a plant-based nutritionist health coach, fitness coach and personal trainer

    • Business tip

      • Airtables: an organizational tool. It's like Excel spreadsheets on crack. So many ways to organize. You can color code things. You can have tables, you can mix up the way you see things.

    • Mastermind

      • You're not alone in this journey and just having their insights and them share things that they're going through, what you learn through other people's experiences is invaluable.

  • Carly

    • Owner and founder of a lifestyle boutique 28 North

    • Business tip

      • Think quick and act quick on things is to seize opportunities and act quickly when things present themselves

      • Trust your intuition more than getting stuck, procrastinating and analyzing things too much, saying yes to things when they feel right, no matter how big or small you just really never know where something may lead you.

    • Mastermind

      • Getting really clear on what her business is, who it serves and what steps she needs to take to grow her brand and achieve consistent momentum by breaking down her goals for the short term and the long-term vision of the brand into more bite-sized chunks
