The biggest struggle most business owners face is a lack of time. They want to create a profitable business but feel like they are always behind and don’t have enough hours in their week to get it all done.

Danielle can totally relate, as a new mama of an almost 10-month-old, time is her most valuable resource and she currently only really has around 15 guaranteed hours per week that she can work. So, in this episode, she shares Two Hacks that she’s used in her own business to help her maximize her time and efficiency - which ultimately leads to more profit in the business as she is able to focus on her profitable tasks!

2 Hacks to give you more time and make you more money:

Hack #1: Incorporating a Workflow:

What is a workflow? A “workflow” is how you get work done. It’s a series of tasks you need to complete in order to reach some repeatable business goal.

Workflow examples - all the steps it takes for you to complete:

  • a blog post

  • Instagram post

  • planning an event

  • onboarding a new client 

  • or ordering new products. 

Why do we waste time? 

  • Often, we waste time because we don’t really know what we need to be working on when - or we have SO much in our brains that we don’t take time to organize our thoughts. Establishing a workflow helps us know exactly what we need to do and when.

  • We also might have hesitation to jump into our work and get started because the tools, resources, or information we need aren’t at our fingertips. One common time waster is spending extra time trying to dig through digital files to find what we need. If you know you have only 10 minutes to complete a task, you can open up your workflow and see that everything you need to complete a 10-minute task. You could complete it with ease and not only feel accomplished, but be set up for the next task according to what future time allows.

This is the magic of a workflow - once you have a template, you can copy and paste the template for each new project! Imagine how much more productive and efficient you could be if you are able to use your templates to set up a step-by-step workflow that recurs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Hack #2: Automation:

Where in your business can you automate repetitive tasks that you are currently doing? This is one of Danielle’s favourite aspects to work on with students and clients - looking at their business and really figuring out how we can simplify the day-to-day of their business! 

Some examples of things you can automate:

  • Create a welcome or follow-up email sequence for those who have joined your email list. This is so helpful, as it establishes a know, like, and trust relationship with your clients, but can even generate sales for you on autopilot!

  • Automating your bookings/calendar with tools like Calendly or Acuity. You can totally automate your schedule, payments, and event/meetings reminders! This is especially helpful at slicing no-show rates.

  • Use tools like Zapier to connect apps that were not developed to sync. For example, if someone purchases or fills out a form on your website, you can create an automation that sends them a welcome email and then alerts yourself/your team so you can fulfill their request/order. 

Don’t let Automation scare you - you can start with simple automation that streamlines your process of onboarding a new client or nurturing a lead, or organizing your schedule.  As you grow and scale your business, you can add automation that makes sense.
