[00:00:00] Danielle: Welcome back to another episode of the Business Babes Collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wiebe. I'm really excited for today's episode. We are doing a short and sweet episode all about the benefits of a strong, supportive community as an entrepreneur. Now you all know very well that I am extremely passionate about community, about collaboration.
[00:00:25] Danielle: And I wanted to give you a short episode describing why these things are so important. Cause I think sometimes we can hear the word community. We can hear collaboration. It's like, Oh, that sounds really nice. It's really fluffy, but it's not actually going to, um, affect the bottom line of my business. And the reason I want to do this episode today is because I want to tell you it absolutely does affect the success of your business.
[00:00:52] Danielle: It also affects your life, which filters into your business and vice versa. So I know a lot of you who listened to this [00:01:00] podcast, you're wanting to build a profitable, successful business, but you also want a fulfilling life. You want a life that you love. You want to be a well rounded person. You want to be a good friend, a good mom, a good wife, whatever, whatever roles you have.
[00:01:19] Danielle: You don't just want to be a successful business owner. And so the reason I want to talk about this aspect of community building, especially when it comes to entrepreneurship is because I think it's something that often gets left on the back burner when really I think it should be one of the most important things and one of the priorities that we have.
[00:01:38] Danielle: Before we dive into all things community though, I wanted to do a shout out to my friend, Joy Michelle of the called to both podcast. If you are a mom and an entrepreneur, this podcast is for you. This podcast is for ambitious women who are chasing both. business dreams [00:02:00] and little ones. You can even hear me on the podcast on episode 35, where joy and I talk about strategic collaborations for your business.
[00:02:09] Danielle: She has so many great episodes when it comes to motherhood and entrepreneurship. So make sure you find joy's podcast on your favorite podcast player by searching called to both. Okay, let's dive into today's episode, grab your favorite summer drink. Mine right now is a lemonade iced tea, and let's get started.
[00:02:32] Danielle: Welcome to the Business Babes Collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle Wie. In this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and strategies. on how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses.
[00:02:52] Danielle: Let's dive in as we discuss the wild, exciting, crazy, challenging rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship. [00:03:00] If you have been trying to build your business, and you've been doing it on your own and you haven't plugged into community. I want you to listen up because today we're going to be talking about three specific benefits of a strong, supportive community as an entrepreneur.
[00:03:17] Danielle: So if you are either just getting started or maybe you've been a business owner for a while now, but you just have been putting off actually diving in. Creating community for yourself, building those strong relationships. I want you to take this episode very, very seriously. I feel so passionately about this.
[00:03:35] Danielle: I hope you can hear it in my voice, but I think every single business owner needs this so badly. Um, and not only will it help you emotionally with the ups and downs that come along with building a business, but it is, it is actually going to help you grow and achieve your. business goals so much faster.
[00:03:57] Danielle: So let's talk about the three specific benefits [00:04:00] of building a strong supportive community. So number one is improving your mindset. When you are a part of a positive and supportive community, those people's habits and their lifestyles and their mindsets will ultimately rub off on you as well. So you probably already noticed this with the people that you have in your life already.
[00:04:22] Danielle: Some people that you hang out with or spend time with bring you energy and they get you excited. And when you talk to them or when you're with them, it creates inspiration. It creates positivity. It creates excitement. And then there might be people who suck the energy out of you, right? Every time you spend time with them, you leave feeling exhausted or you leave feeling like your energy has been drained.
[00:04:48] Danielle: We get this comment all the time when it comes to our in person events. People say that the energy in the room is incredible and it gives them so much inspiration and motivation just [00:05:00] being in that atmosphere where other positive women are also pursuing their dreams. So number one is improving your mindset.
[00:05:09] Danielle: That is one of the benefits of being a part of a supportive community. Number two is accountability and help achieving your goals. You will be so shocked at how much more you can accomplish when you have consistent accountability and motivation from a strong, support network, not only because their habits will rub off on you, but also because when you surround yourself with inspiring people who are doing big things and they have success themselves, they want to help support you as well.
[00:05:42] Danielle: And so they are just naturally generous people. They're people that want to connect you. They're people that want to, um, create relationships and create opportunities for you. So getting that, getting in community. can create this amazing accountability. I know for me [00:06:00] personally, I really need that accountability because I'm usually more accountable to other people than I will be just to myself, right?
[00:06:08] Danielle: So if something is actually, if I'm accountable to someone else or someone else is checking in on me, I'm often more likely to accomplish that thing. So that's why I love having coaches. I love being a part of masterminds. I love being a part of communities that I can get that accountability from because There's those check in points, right?
[00:06:27] Danielle: So for example, in our mastermind, we have check in. So every single call we talk about wins of the week. We talk about, you know, what's going well in our businesses. We talk about some of the challenges that are happening and how we need support, but it's that accountability. It's that check in that is so key because, you know, we will.
[00:06:48] Danielle: Call people out and say, Hey, I, I know you were working on that project. How is that going? And so to have that community around you that can actually check in with you on the goals [00:07:00] that you set for yourself is so important. Okay. So number three, the last one that I want to talk about is the collaboration opportunities.
[00:07:08] Danielle: Now, of course I had to talk about collaboration. Um, but when you build new relationships and connections, this can open so many doors. To collaborations, so this could be working together on projects. It could be sharing resources, leveraging each other's networks. This happens all the time at our events within our online communities and our masterminds.
[00:07:34] Danielle: I hear this. Time and time again about how women have connected within our community, connected each other to the right people or the right resources or the right help to allow them to achieve these big life or business goals that they have had for the longest time. If you are just working on your goals by yourself and you're not opening yourself up to community and [00:08:00] connection, you're missing out on so much opportunity.
[00:08:04] Danielle: So. I want you to think about the people that you are currently spending your time with. Are the people that you're currently spending your time with positive, uplifting, are they inspiring? Are they challenging you to be the best version of yourself? If you don't have these people in your life, I want to challenge you to actually take action today to change that.
[00:08:26] Danielle: I want you to take some time to find communities. That resonate with you now, of course, we would love to connect with you inside of our community, but find a community that is a good fit for you and seek out people to surround yourself with people who can see the best in you, people who can call out your strengths.
[00:08:50] Danielle: People who can challenge you to dream bigger, who can support you in your goals. People that actually care enough about you to call you out. When [00:09:00] you have negative, a negative spiral, or when you are playing too small or when, when you're in a negative mindset, right, you need to have those people around you who can lift you up.
[00:09:11] Danielle: When you're feeling down, you need those people who can tell you, Hey, it's okay. I've been there before. I understand what you're going through, but also you don't have to stay in that dark place. I also want you to think about how can you be that encouraging, positive, supportive person for someone else?
[00:09:31] Danielle: How can you be that person for someone else? Because when you look for those relationships, you're going to attract more of those relationships if you are that type of person yourself. So how are you going to take action today? So here are some ideas. Maybe it is texting a friend or a contact that you haven't spoken to in a while and sending them an encouraging message.
[00:09:55] Danielle: Maybe it's asking a contact that maybe you met on social media or [00:10:00] online if they wanted to go for a coffee. Maybe it's joining a supportive community, a mastermind, getting a coach. Maybe it's attending an event where you can meet other inspiring people. Whatever you do today, take action to build relationships and connections and focus on how, not only what you can get from that relationship, but what you can give.
[00:10:20] Danielle: to that relationship. So I hope you enjoyed this episode today. I hope it encourages you and I hope it challenges you to start to build that community. And if you already have, then continue to cultivate that community, because I think we can always improve in this area, including myself is building in those relationships, building in those strong connections, and also looking for ways that you can support and connect other people as well.
[00:10:46] Danielle: So before we end off this episode, I'm really excited because we are working on even more ways to connect and get you plugged into our community so that you can [00:11:00] collaborate with like minded women.
