[00:00:00] Danielle: Welcome back to the Business Babes Collective podcast. I am your host, Danielle Wiebe, and today we are talking all things events. I am really pumped on this episode. As many of you know, I am very passionate about events and we're going to be diving into the benefits of hosting your own events, both virtual or in person for your business.

[00:00:26] Danielle: I believe that events provide so many different opportunities, both to connect with your community and potential customers or clients in a really meaningful way. So I'm going to be diving into three benefits of hosting your own events for your business. I'm not going to waste any more of your time today is a very short, but very valuable episode.

[00:00:48] Danielle: So let's go ahead and dive in. Welcome to the business babes collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle. In this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and [00:01:00] strategies. On how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview seasoned entrepreneurs so you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses.

[00:01:12] Danielle: Let's dive in as we discuss the wild, exciting, crazy challenging, rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship. If you are new to the podcast, you may not know that our entire business started about. Eight years ago, almost nine years ago now, when we decided to host our very first pop up event, it was just an idea that I had and it was something fun to do as a way to, for me to be able to connect with other people.

[00:01:41] Danielle: And that is actually what. spurred on this entire business and obviously it has changed a lot since then and it has become so much more than what it was when I first started. But needless to say, I absolutely love events. I think they are. So [00:02:00] incredibly powerful, not only to create community to cultivate connection, which many of, you know, I am very passionate about, but it's also a very strategic way to grow your business.

[00:02:14] Danielle: Now, I get a lot of people asking me about hosting events and a lot of my clients want to host events or they're curious about it and so they ask me a lot of questions and one of the biggest questions that I always get is if they're hosting their very first event like what are some of the things that they should do to sort of prepare for hosting event.

[00:02:35] Danielle: Now I feel like I could do a whole other episode on this, so maybe I'll do a series. You let me know if you would like a series on hosting events for your business. But one of the things that I always, um, suggest to people is really test your market, test your community. So depending on what your business is, depending on who your ideal.

[00:02:58] Danielle: Customer or [00:03:00] client is that really sets the stage for what type of event you should host and also What you should do to prepare for that specific event So obviously there's lots of different events that you can host you can host virtual events. You can host in person events I always suggest if you have not hosted either before start with a virtual event because the stakes are lower Um, the price point is lower.

[00:03:26] Danielle: There's not as much overhead. Therefore, there's not as much risk. And I love giving the example of one of my students, Christine, who took our business breakthrough accelerator program. Um, her main goal was to host in person events and I encouraged her to start with collaborative virtual events. Which is exactly what she did and exactly what we teach inside of the accelerator program.

[00:03:51] Danielle: So she hosted her very first collaborative virtual event, which she hosted a summit. And it was so incredible because [00:04:00] she was able to build her email list. She was also able to build a lot of confidence and she was able to get over her fear of pitching. And so with that, she was able to triple her email list and she was able to sell out.

[00:04:14] Danielle: one of her very first events that she hosted after the business breakthrough accelerator. So my specific advice for you is that if you've never hosted either a virtual or in person event before, start with virtual just because the stakes are lower. So if you're interested in. Learning more about what it takes to run events, whether it be virtual or in person, DM me on Instagram, because I would love to get to know you, get to know your business a little bit more and see if events would be a good fit for you.

[00:04:47] Danielle: So DM me the word events to Danny living life, which is where you can find me on Instagram. You can also check out the. link in the show notes. And I'm happy to share with you some tips and invite [00:05:00] you to our next free workshop coming out. So let's go ahead and dive into the three main benefits of hosting events for your business.

[00:05:09] Danielle: So let's be real. I could probably think of so many more, but I wanted to keep this episode short and sweet. So number one is when you host events for your business. You position yourself as an authority in your industry. So events are such an incredible way to be able to actually collaborate with other experts in your industry and to be able to actually showcase your expertise.

[00:05:37] Danielle: So whether you're hosting a virtual summit or event, maybe a challenge, or even an in person workshop or conference, events position you as an industry leader. And not only does this establish your credibility, but also it can attract a wider audience that might be interested in what you have to offer, whether it [00:06:00] be your products or services.

[00:06:02] Danielle: Okay. Number two is when you host an event for your business, you create momentum and you also are able to cultivate a community around your brand. So Events can be such a powerful tool for cultivating a thriving community around your brand, which if you have listened to this podcast before, you know, that is something that I talk about a lot.

[00:06:24] Danielle: And I think it is so important to building a sustainable business that actually It lasts long term when you're able to build that community around your brand. You have people that are interested in what you have to offer. You can ask for their feedback. That is such a valuable thing when you're building a business.

[00:06:44] Danielle: So in my opinion, I think consistency is key. So my personal recommendation for people that are asking me about events is host. Regular events, whether it be monthly or quarterly [00:07:00] or twice a year, whatever that might be. When you're hosting regular events, you actually start to really create that sense of community.

[00:07:09] Danielle: And the cool thing is, is that you can actually use social media to expand that. So when we were first getting started. Back in 2015, we used our Instagram and our Facebook group to cultivate that community around our brand. So we would talk about our events, we would ask for people's feedback, and we were cultivating that community both in person, but also online at the same time and connecting the two together.

[00:07:36] Danielle: The other thing that happens when you host an event is it actually creates this excitement and momentum around your brand. And there's something so powerful about that. Other people are sharing about the event and they're sharing about your brand. And so that leads me into the third benefit of hosting your own event is increasing a brand [00:08:00] awareness and driving more sales.

[00:08:02] Danielle: So depending on your style of event, whether it's an educational event or an event showcasing your products, you can create so much excitement and buzz and attract new potential customers and clients for your products and services. So. We find that right after we host events, there are so many more inquiries about the services, the coaching, the programs that we offer with the business directly after an event.

[00:08:32] Danielle: And it doesn't matter whether it's a in person event or a virtual event, there is always an influx in inquiries. Right after we finish one of our events and another quick tip on this is if you are hosting an event make your current clients and customers or people that are already a part of your community feel like rock stars.

[00:08:57] Danielle: So feature them, [00:09:00] um, tell their stories, have them on a panel at your event. If, if it's that type of an event, um, give them a gift when they arrive, whatever that might look like, make your current clients and customers feel like VIPs. We do this. all the time with our mastermind members. When people are in our mastermind, we just make them feel like rock stars at our event because we like to not only connect them with people within our community, but also just showcase them to other people and promote them to other people.

[00:09:33] Danielle: And so, however you can make your current customers or your current clients feel special. That is not only going to encourage loyalty to your brand, but also encourage others to become customers and clients of yours as well. So in conclusion, the three main benefits of hosting your own events for your business are one to position yourself as an authority in your industry and be able to [00:10:00] collaborate with others in your industry as well.

[00:10:02] Danielle: Number two is creating momentum and cultivating a community around your brand. And three is to increase your brand awareness and drive more sales. sales. So hopefully by now you are excited to figure out how you can host your very first event. If you haven't already, um, and send me a DM, I would love to hear from you.

[00:10:24] Danielle: I would love to connect with you. Tell me more about your business. Let me know. Um, if you're curious about hosting your events or if you have hosted an event in the past, let me know how it went. Let me know how I can support you and help you. Um, again, DM me the word events to my Instagram, uh, at Danny, Danny with an eye living life, and I'll send you over some valuable tips and resources, and then also access to our next live workshop, which will also be linked in the show notes.
